Technorati Favorites Exchange: Join the Experiment

A Little Background…
Fave me and I’ll Fave you. That’s the basic idea. As far as I can tell this was first initiated by Dosh Dosh about one month ago. His article (see link above) called for people to favorite his Technorati Profile, post a comment and then he’ll favorite you back.

His stated goal at the time was to get into the Technorati Top 100 Favorited Blogs and to take others with him. Well it appears to have worked like a charm as Dosh Dosh is now #8 on the Favorited list. At the time of his article (one month ago), Dosh wrote that it was going to take 148 faves to break into the list. Fortunately for the rest of us, this threshold hasn’t increased too much: at the time of this writing it takes 211 faves to crack #100.

Why Participate In This?
This is an experiment, a two way method allowing us to share readers and traffic together. Take advantage of this exchange and participate in the exchanges of others as a means of leveraging outside traffic for the betterment of all.

Getting Favorited will increase your blog’s social standing. It remains to be seen if a higher favorited count factors in to the Technorati search results (like a Google PageRank) but cracking the top 100 will certainly bring you more readership.

Okay, How do I Participate in this Technorati Exchange Program?
This experiment is open to anyone who runs a blog as long as your blog does not contain spam or copyrighted material you may participate. Please limit your exchange to one website only.

There are two levels of participation. Step One: Exchanging Technorati Faves and Step Two: Running your own exchange program.
If you would like to host your own Technorati Exchange program then complete both steps. Otherwise follow the instructions listed below in Step One.

Step One: Simple Fave Exchange

• Sign up for a Technorati account if you haven’t already.
• Click and Add my Blog to your Technorati Favorites. Then come back here.
• Leave your Technorati user name in a clickable format in a comment to this post so that I can fave you back.

My Technorati user name is jrob00 and I will favorite your blog as soon as possible. I’ll try to limit my comment responses to your additions but please speak up if you believe I’ve overlooked you for some reason.

Step Two: Link Exchange (Optional)

• Complete Step One Above.
• Create a Post on your Blog. Create a post with similar instructions as these and include a prominent link to this post indicating that a similar exchange is going on at i.ndustrio.us. You may use any link text desired but please include the link in a new post rather than an old buried post.
• Receive a Link Back. Once I notice a link from your blog via Trackback or Technorati, I’ll include a link to your post on Technorati Favorites within this post so readers can visit your exchange and participate there as well. In addition to that I will be sure to highlight this post on the front page of my blog so that readers can easily find additional exchanges such as yours.
