Download Garageband Lessons Directly

I tried to queue all the guitar lessons for download at once thinking I could set it and walk away while it worked. Silly me, that caused a weird problem where some of the files where basically corrupted and I was stuck in a “You Have Unfinished Downloads” loop that wouldn’t allow me to actually finish the job.

Fortunately I came across a blog post that provided real links to the download files. If you’re having the same problems I was this should do the trick.

Media Coverage Saturation: iPhone & Paris Hilton

What do the iPhone and Paris Hilton have in common? I can’t stand to hear a single word about either due to the insanely over-saturated media coverage.

The Apple marketing machine might have penetrated the market a little too much with the hype surrounding their latest product release.

I don’t know if the general public will react the same way as i am but you can safely assume that if you see someone carrying an iPhone in the foreseeable future - it will not be me. I was on the fence for a while about getting the new iPhone, but like hearing a good song overplayed on the radio, I don’t want anything to do with it.

Seeing the news coverage of those sad people in line waiting to get their hands on a 1st release was really pathetic.

I heard it said once that the best customers are sales people themselves because a sales person will buy anything (including their own hype). This couldn’t be a more inaccurate description of me. Sure I’m interested in marketing tactics and strategy but pitch me an item with a giant silver marketing hook and I’ll walk away just because of your approach.

The same goes for this media fueled iPhone craze. Some of those people they interviewed in line CLEARLY had minimum-wage jobs but had no problem dropping their hard earned nickel on the latest hunk of soon-to-be replaced technology.

Seriously people, stop building your own road blocks toward a better life (unless you plan on selling the iPhone on Ebay that is…).

iTunes 7 and Gapless Garbage

I’m finally starting to become happy with the setup I have on my home network for managing my mp3s. Once I have all the kinks are ironed out, I’ll be sure to publish a brief step-by-step how-to in case anyone is interested in setting up something similar.

Until that time, I wanted to share something I’ve learned about iTunes7. Hopefully this will help someone avoid the iTunes headache I’ve recently developed.

iTunes Can Be Helpful

Well if it’s not clear already, I enjoy using iTunes as my default mp3 player. Even more surprising might be the fact that I actually enable the ‘Keep iTunes Music folder organized’ option. Sure, there are some inherent annoyances with giving iTunes that much control over your files but for me personally, the pros outweigh the cons.

I like the fact that I can use iTunes to organize my genres, group compilations together, mass change artist information, identify duplicates, etc… and everyone of those changes is made to both the id3 tag (when appropriate) and the file name/location itself.
